Safest Openings
If you want to play endgames, establish yourself as a middlegame robot. If you want to play middlegames, show the world that you're as good as any tablebase out there. Make your development as a chess player a recursive process, not a linear one. And at every step of your progress, give all of the credit to your teachers, wellwishers, and good luck. That way, you can get the best of life without getting stuck in the cycle of pride and ego.
Samurai-X , you could consider playing a solid opening. It doesn't have to be a particular opening but rather a particular pawn structure. such a pawn structure could be a Stonewall formation, which can be played both as white and as black. On this link you can see an explanation of the Stonewall formation: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stonewall_Attack
If you want to play a particular opening you have already got some suggestions. Besides those you could also play the Caro-Kann (as black), which is considered solid: 1. e4 c6 or if white plays 1. d4 you can invite him to play Caro-Kann anyway by playing: 1... c6, but after 1. d4 you could also choose 1... f5, Dutch, which is going into the Stonewall formation with the black pieces.

What opening will safely (without too many risks of being tactically outplayed) get you into the endgame (or even middlegame) even if you might be in a slight disadvantage when you get to the endgame (or middlegame)?
