Just last week at my chess club, I fell for the same trap as in the Fischer-Tarrasch match!  You feel stupid when it happens, I'll tell you.

I thought that Tarrasch died before Bobby was even born.  I don't think that any other Tarrasch has been 2700-strength.

He did.  That game never happened.

I met Fischer before. How could I be wrong? I saw the game myself.

Tarrasch died in 1934 and Fischer was born 1943. If this match really happened it had to be another Tarrasch.

I doubt the game is true, though. No 2700-player would play 7...dxe5 and then 8...bxc6 . Besides, 7.e5 is marked with a !! when, in fact, it simply makes white lose a pawn by 7...Nxe5 .

The game between Anand and Kramnik never happened, either.

You're claiming to have witnessed a game between GMs?

And you're claiming Fischer played a game against another GM since 1994?  (You probably have to stretch that to 2000 before you can even claim to remember it...)

These are two different lines in the Magnus-Smith trap, which Fischer DID write about.  Here's a great video about this trap:

Ahh, forget about it

Fischer did something very similar to Reshevsky (Bxpf7+ winning the queen and winning on move 11) in the 1958-9 US Championship - does that shed any light on this?
