scolars mate infuriates me

You shouldn't really post a game until it's over, because many posters won't read the whole thread, and might post replies under the assumption that the game has finished.

having this online game going now with a man clearly three times as old as me but i suddenly realized at the  right time he was going for a scholars mate against me

now other than being  a sign of disrespect , even if i am a younger player, he clearly insults my inteligence and he only noted wow after i told him i know what is going on.

now this is not my problem, my problem is that this moves really gets cheap on people and acts as a great insult that spoils a good chess game. and i do wish it was banned, but that is not what will work best so i need ideas to punish that behaviour, i ended up moving the  f7 pawn but i then wished for a stronger or less passive move, other than putting out my knight for the e pawn to push away or take.

I want you to think of it like the ancient Japanese martial art of
"jujitsu."

You must skillfully turn your opponent's strengths against him, rather than using your own force.

I was done until I seen the level of stupidity of that comment. Sir. Do you see anyone raging like you here? YOU r the filth of chess.com no one wants u here. Plz leave

Well, all I learned here was now we all know what to play against you. It may be a set of inferior moves, but it seems psychologically debilitating to you, and thus are sown the seeds of defeat.

And I guess that "scolars" mate infuriates anyone that is a "scolar."

Perhaps he did not depress the h-key hard enough. Why does everybody get chastised on this site's forums for a simple typographical error?

This should cheer you up, Fady: not exactly Scholar's mate, but Anand loses a knight for no compensation on move 6 and resigns. And I'm sure he didn't write to the forums about it ;)

I should note that Zapata means female shoe...

I find it funny that some of you choose g6 as a defensive move more appropriate is Nf6 developing a piece and making a threat.

I dont understand why g6 is this a good move or something you are weakening ur kingside.

AKAL1

xpchesser is right, why defend against checkmate? After all, mate is the aim of the game!

TRACKING ON!

I thought that the OP was trolling when I read the thread title, but this is serious!??!!??

I'm only mildly embarrassed to admit that I have been bested by the scholar's mate, and minor variations based on an instant attack on my g7 pawn, at least a dozen times.

I was once beat probably 4 times in a row by another equally rated player, whose ratings shot up while mine plummeted. By the fifth game, I "got it." And I thrashed him soundly for the remainder of the evening.

He obviously had no idea how to play chess beyond his bag of cheap tricks…so the loss is his, not mine. While I was annoyed the first 2 games, we were actually laughing about it together after a while.

I've fallen for slightly different variants of scholar mate, and scholar mate itself in a couple of times. Each time it happened i was not infuriated by my opponnent but my own lack of skills.

Problem solved and enjoy your bishop pair.

This game is current. No one should be commenting on it at all.

jimmykay, the game is in move umpteen by now. no need to refrain from discussing pretty "generic" errors on move 3 or 5.

The weaknesses in the position due to these moves are still there.
