millenials will rule the world old man. Gen X will refuse to adapt and be stuck in the homes, while Millenials will be the first ageless generation and become the new rich boomers due to all that compound interest that comes with being 150 years old in good health

And then reality will sink in to you because it has been reported multiple times that the average life span for millenials will be shorter than the average life span for Gen X, and that it will be the first generation in centuries not to outlive their predecessors.  Sure, Gen X will die before Millenials do as they are 10 to 30 years older, but if I am 45, and you are 25, and we both live to be the exact average life span of our generation, while I may be 20 years older than you, I'll likely die more like 17 to 18 years before you!

Where did you read that?

I have seen multiple sources say that.  Here is 1 example:

To be fair, millennials are living shorter lives because this world sucks. Like, the 2008 depression, rebirth of isolationism and totalitarian leaders, climate change and increases to the frequency and severity of natural disasters, deforestation and mass extinctions, coronavirus, and having to share a time line with Tim Allen. It’s enough to make anyone want to eat a tide pod.

The article is only talking about mortality rates, it does not claim that the average lifespan of millenials will be any shorter than previous generations because it's a different claim involving many other factors.

If the mortality rate is going up, clearly the AVERAGE lifespan is going down!  Life Span is not just factored by the healthy.

If only 5 people existed in each generation, and they lived to the following ages:

Gen X - 80 (Old Age), 80 (Cancer), 80 (Heart Attack), 80 (Shot), 40 (Drug OD), the Average Life Span is 72

Millenial - 85 (Old Age), 55 (Shot), 55 (Suicide), 45 (Suicide), 75 (Heart Attack), the Average Life Span is 63

Does not matter that the oldest one to live was a millenial.  Average life span would be shorter in that scenario.  If a lot more people are dying young, whether it be suicide, heart attacks at 50, breast cancer at 46, the average will drop, even if the natural causes deaths are a year higher than Gen X.

No it's not as clear as you want to make it look like, your example is simply myopic because you are really skewing the representation of young deaths.

You, I and really nobody knows the proportion of people who will live a long life nor how long it will be and that affects average life span.

And the fact that nobody knows for certain is the reason why it's a PROJECTION and not a STATISTIC!

Based on historical data of how long people live based on common health conditions and stress levels of each generation, they PROJECT how many will die at each age.

Keeping in mind that this is all hypothetical - let's just say that you studied the past and that you saw that in the last 100 years, 70% of suicides are due to financial stress, 20% are due to medical pain, 5% are due to career stress (i.e. musicians OD'ing on drugs), and 5% are Murder/Suicide cases - man kills his wife and then himself.

Well, let's just hypothetically say that more people in Gen X have diabetes and high blood pressure than those in Gen Y (or Millenial).

However, the average college debt for a Gen X person is $5000, and the average college debt for a Gen Y (or millenial) person is $73,000.  When they go to figure out the average life span of both generations, they have to factor in many different things:

1) The suicide rate will likely be significantly higher for Millenials

2) Those that die 5 to 10 years earlier than those in good health, like a diabetic dying at 75 as opposed to a healthy person dying at 80, will be significantly higher for Gen X in this hypothetical case.

3) After looking at what percentage of people are likely to commit suicide and what percentage are likely to die early from medical conditions, you figure a person dying of "old age" should live to be say, 88 in Gen X and 89 in Gen Y.

Then you have to do all the math and come up with a "projected" average.

Whatever formula they used (I'm 100% sure it's not the example given above), they determined that Gen X is likely to outlive Millenials in terms of Average Life Expectency.

So this is a proyection and not actual facts? Glad we sorted you were speaking conjectures here.
