Shatranj openings were once on Wikipedia but seem to have been removed from the article. There were 16 battle arrangements in all that I found. The tabiya above are actually 2 of the tabiyyat mentioned. The article was in Mandarin or something, and I couldn't read it, but the diagrams and Persian names of the openings are there. I printed the article to save the positions because Shatranj is one of the oldest forms of the game of chess, having just migrated from India over to Persia. If I find the article laying around my storage, I will post immediately. It is great to see I am not the only one searching for a piece of history here.
shatranj tabiyas ?

Aloha kinglybingly,
It's been a while since your comments on this post. Did you have a chance to see the section on shatranj in HJR Murray's, A History of Chess?

I have a paperback copy that I use now and then but find the kindle version easier.

I'm interested in studying chess openings played in the ancient chess variant. I know of the Mujannah–Mashaikhi and 2 more found on exterchess site but that's it
