Should a beginner learn the main lines for the Sicilian?

I as a beginner have been playing sicilian like structures because I think it's boring to always start with d5 or e5. Knowing the main line isn't necessary if you play beginners as well. I think it's much more important knowing how to respond to each move from white from a tactical perspective, this will help you with every opening.
