KG is not a bad choice, at least u know what u have to do.

Old Benoni is more complicated and needs experience and some skills to be played properly.

Scotch gambit as proposed above is a good idea.

The idea at your level is to play with initiative : so KG, scotch gambit, Evans gambit, are all good stuffs.

With black it is more complicated, but stay "simple" as I said : really, 1.e4 e5 and 1.d4 d5 are often advocated, for good reasons...

Almost every time I've seen a player rated 1200-1800 complain about their opening, the problem isn't really the opening. The two most common problems for players of this rating range is the inability to form plans and blindness to their opponent's threats.

Work on those to facets of the game and follow @poucin's advice to keep the opening choice simple and look for the initiative.
