Siberian trap and "Mayhem in the Morra"

I think you are right. In the book I think it says 9. Ng4 is a better try but that it is still probably better for black to try a different defense in the first place.
The siberian trap is a trap out of the Morra Gambit. I first learned about it from Youtube videos, but had never gotten a chance to actually use it successfully until the other day.
This is how the trap is ussually shown:
This is my game, a different move from white on move 9, but the effect is the same.
Incidentally, Marc Esserman talks about the siberian variation in his book "Mayhem in the Morra", which I have recently purchased and am slowly working my way through. I have been playing the Morra as white recently and intend to never fall victim to it due to the refutation Marc puts in the book. I am convinced by this refutation, and don't think the trap is sound. So why would I play it? well, tricks are for kids, but I'm still young. I think I will put this line to rest though. I got my first and perhaps only kill with this trap and I think I'm satisfied with that and will resort to more sound lines in the future.
Marc's refutation:
In case this isn't already clear by this point in my post, i want to reiterate that these are not my ideas, and I do not want to come off as plagarizing Marc's ideas. Marc, if you happen to stumble across this forum post, please know that I am not trying to steal your ideas here, and be flattered that I really enjoy your book.
To my fellow non-masters, let me say that I have been having more fun reading this chess book than I have had with any other chess book I've ever read. I highly recommend the book!
