Sicilian: Bowdler attack

Hi,

I usually play the accelerated dragon, but against 1. e4 c5 2. Bc4 Nc6 3. Nf3 the computer says that 3... g6 is a mistake.

Can someone tell me why?

Thanks

What does the computer say?

Presumably, it gives you more than a thumbs down. I would guess that it's because 2..e6  or 3..e6 is the way to equalize against the Bowdler.

null

Strangemover

I'm not sure that it is necessarily a mistake but 3.e6 is a more natural reaction to Bc4 because it blunts the action of the bishop and suggests to white that this piece is misplaced.

Indeed, the computer suggests e6.

If I play e6 though, I'll have to learn a new variation tongue.png

What would you plan be after 3... e6?

Thanks
