Sicilian center game

Hello,

The line :

1.e4 c5

2.d4 cxd

3Qxd....

looks like the center game king's pawn but unlike this one this way to play the sicilian looks dubius.

a very bad score (77% win with black in 365chess).

Do you why it is bad, is it playable anyway ? please

Well first it exposes the queen to loss of time after Nc6. However, it also differs from the centre game in that white has given up the d pawn for lacks c pawn, whereas in the centre game it is the d for the e. This means black has a central majority which is a long term advantage, and I guess his lead in development and centre control just makes whites position very hard.

On a side note, if you really want to play this way, you may be interested in the checkhover variation:

1. e4 c5  2.Nf3 d6  3.d4 cxd4 4.Qxd4 Nc6 5.Bb5

This has been played by some really strong players including Carlsen. The idea is that after 5..Bd7, white plays 6.Bxc6 Bxc6 (or bxc6), and plays c4 reaching a maroczy bind type position without the bad LSB (whether it is really ''bad'' is debatable, but it's a principled idea).

thanks, and interresting the idea of the checkhover variation.
