Good point. Not sure what he means with "2...d5". Must be a typo. Maybe 2...d6. But that's still playable after 2.Nc3.

As far as d5 on the second move that is played with white 2nd C3. 1. E4,C5,2. C3,D5........ The C3 Sicilian.

CHess.com's opening database contains approaching 2 million games with the SIcilian, including nearly 20,000 commencing 1. e4 c5, 2. Nc3 Nc6.   Did you look there before asking for advice? 2. ... Nc6 might well be Black's strongest continuation.  At any rate it is completely playable, and Black scores as well as White from this position.

The closed Sicilian is nothing for Black to worry about.  White does a bit less well overall with it than with the main lines commencing 2. Nf3.

actually you can play immediately 2. e6 and 3. d5 after

On the rare occasions when I play the Sicilian (it's not really a good idea for people who don't know what they're doing, and that's me!) 2...Nc6 is fine against 2.Nc3, as just mentioned.  Your 6...Nxd4 was questionable though. Simply 6...Nf6 or d6 looks better.

This thing can transpose into the Taimanov line, I think, when black usually continues 6...e6. But 6...Bb4 is a lot of fun, especially in blitz, when black allows the check on d6.

This is why some people say a6 is a useful move in the Sicilian.

One reason why 2.Bc4 Qf6 is so lame

After 1. c4 c5 2. Nc3, what are some thoughts on whether to follow with 2. ... Nc6 vs. e6 ? A lot of times, both moves are made but how does the order matter? Thanks!
