Sicilian Kan Variation [Free Repertoire for black]
Good choice for people to start and understand how to play Sicilian i like it very much . But e4+c4 positions you need to study this stuff learn how to use hedgehog structure against that . But this is very interesting opening for "improve" players . Easy transpositions to Najdorf/Sheveningen type structures but white of cuz has some extra options .
This is a very bad article.
Not to be toxic, but I must agree. This is not a particularly good article as it doesn’t discuss many key ideas, gives virtually no theory, and bases the greatness of the Kan on obscure internet games. Also I object to 5. Bd3...g6 being critical. Everybody knows that Nf6 and Bc5 are the only two main lines against the 5.Bd3 Kan.
GM Miezis plays a lot of 5.Bd3 Nc6 line , GM Smirin choose Nf6 or Bc5 line.Anyway for club players level
g6 is also playable move middlegame decide the result of the battle .
Its a decent starting point for anyone who wants to consider looking at this variation.
Thanks for posting it, and ignore a certain negative personality, he would find something to moan about if he won a million quid !
Comment on the move 5.Bd3:
The bishop on d3 does two things. First, it develops a piece, which is correct in the opening principles. Secondly, it defends e4 square, because black will attack e4 pawn.
Comment on the move 5.c4 Nf6 6.Bd3:
Although he can protect his both e and c4 pawn with Bd3 it’s not the best move. The reason it’s not the best move because it’s against the opening principles.
You need more than that?
Whoever wrote that is a beginner, who for some odd reason feels ready to teach other beginners. mybe he even feels at home advicing some beginner like the following one to follow the opening principles...
