It doesn't really matter.

1...c5 is more popular.

1...e5 trails behind.

Whatever you know best.

Just don't follow any recommendation by Yereslov- e.g. in his first diagram Black is already close to being totally lost after 7.Ne6!

You know, tell us your style: Maybe it will help. You can't play a passive opening if u r attacking player

Where the hell can you play Ne6?

The e7 pawn hasn't been pushed yet.

This is opening book theory. Good luck arguing against it.

What book?

Qb6 is completely oddball in that variation.  I don't think it loses outright or anything, but Ne6 does give a discovered attack on it with the bishop, in case that's what you were wondering.

Oh, I thought he meant for black.

Yeah, I guess my variation sucks.

I was trying to play the Poisoned Pawn Variation.

Maybe you should actually check before claiming an IM is wrong.

If you did not intend to imply it so strongly that it could be taken as you saying it then you may want to be much more careful about how you word things. I don't buy that you weren't saying he was wrong.

Last time I checked this isn't a store. I don't care about what you buy.

That's your business, not mine.

Not really. Business is all about getting what you want.

Money and power.

I play the Sicilian Modern Kan and I feel it is the antethisis of 1. ..e5. Check out the Sicilian Defense: Kan Variation.  Here is a link.  http://www.chess.com/opening/eco/B42_Sicilian_Defense_Kan_Variation_Modern_Variation

1. ..e5 is "easier" and probabbly better for a beginner.

They have whole opening books just devoted to that specific variation.

I try it once in a while and get a fine game.

I would not say that the ruy lopez is easier than a Sicilian :)

Basiclly it has 2 different chains of though. The e5 idea is first to get a roughly equal position and once you are roughly equal switch over to attack/imbalance if you can. While c5 is looking for imbalance and activity from the start but also having no way out unless white wants to.
