I can completely agree with that.  White always has very good chances in the King's Gambit.

in regards to the above ...8:Qf3 is a much better try than 8:Be2 IMO i have used Qf3 and won quite a few games.

You are correct. I don't see that line very often, so I don't know i that well.

Nope.  Qf3 is very interesting, but GM's have disregarded it.  Perfect for club level, but beyond that, it has no audience.

Beyond club level, few people play 4. Ng5. They play d4.

The Benko Gambit is sound. I think it ranks right up there with the Marshall and Scotch: Steinitz Attack.

The Von Hennig-Schara Gambit is pretty sound for Black too. I've done well with it.

I'm currently studying the sicilian wing gambit (1.e4 c5 2.b4)

I'm not sure if its sound (not too bothered really!!) I'm playing it against a couple of people on chess.com and its in the early stages, but my aim is to use it in rapid otb games becasue it doesn't come up that often in my experience and because its a rapid game no one has time to think about how to refute it unless they've already studied it.

Has anyone else played this or had any experience with it?

chessman_calum

the morra smith or the smith morra, i can't remember goes like this...

Thanks for all of the opinons here, I now have some material to research.  I have not played chess in 20+ years and over the last month playing I have realized I am playing a stagnant game.  My openings are weak and need improvement.

BasicLvrCH8r

If you find your games stagnant, take up the King's Gambit. It's very fun and tactical. There is never a boring moment.

Chess_Champion26

id lean to the queens gambit, gives you nice positions, accepted or declined!
