Stafford gambit for low rated players

Hi everybody, I am wondering if the Stafford gambit is OK to use in standard chess for players like me, who are just over 1,000 on chess.com. I know it’s considered good for blitz and bullet, but not for standard chess, but maybe that concerns better players than I am? Thanks.

Stafford is not good at any level. You memorize some lines, that do not appear in other major openings, so it’s not beneficial.

The Stafford seems to be one of the easiest gambits to take apart at any time control. I'd recommend nc6 over nf6 and then take your pick of any aggressive lines/gambits after that.

not gonna lie i lost to the stafford gambit when it became more populare due to eric rosen but white has jut too look it up and memorize. imo playing the stafford gambit is refusing to play normally and just hope that your opponent is unfamilier with it. so dont play it is my recommendation

You can play it if you want. But nobody will recommend it.

In a 90minute game a couple weeks back, I saw a 1900 play the Stafford against a 2160. Every time I looked at the game blacks position got repeatedly worse until I looked over there and black was down an entire rook.

So.

Avoid all openings with Gambit in their name, except Queen's Gambit, which is no real gambit.
Gambits help you overrun weaker players, which you should beat anyway,
but make you lose against stronger players, against whom you need most help.

learn a real opening bro. There are better ways to put pressure on your opponent as black.
