I play against a beginner opponent that starts his game pushing his rook pawns forward. What can I play against it?

Play as usual neglecting those useless rook moves. grin.png

In the late 1900's, these "Crab Openings" became a fad that didn't last long because they basically waste moves with Pawns instead of Pieces.  You can financetto Bishops without moving the RP's and openings of the "Modern" type that do that get much better results.

Personally, I advise players to grab center space including Pawns to e4 and f4 if possible, castle opposite the way Black does, and Pawn Storm Black's K-position.  This tends to work because Black isn't doing much to threaten White's setup after wasting those two moves on RP's.

Worthless, this "teacher" thinks h4 is played to bring out the rook.  Ridiculous !

Sorry but at beginner's level (and here it is the case), h4/a4 aims to develop rook on h3/a3.

Which is ridiculous is that u don't adapt to the person asking.
