I am 2400 and play 1.e4 but play a fair bit of the London/Colle/Stonewall/Jobava London online. If your goal is to get an objectively better opening than the Sokolsky then I think the London isn’t really all too much better. You pretty much would have to go d4/c4 or e4. If you’re fine with an equal position that you like playing then just keep playing the Sokolsky
Strong blitz players , do I switch my opening reporter or continue with my own !?

Ok thank you for quite detail and simple answer.
You are 2400 blitz now but one month ago you were 2500+ so you can say you are 2500 player
Thx.

Just play what u are comfortable with.
If u like Sokolski, keep playing and enjoying it.
If u want to improve though, maybe u should look at something else...

So if I want to improve london is fine or ypu recommend something else? Can you be more specific with your answer please, thx.

I’d say go with what you’re more experienced with. It is blitz and rapid after all.
Yes but competition is getting stronger and I'm canceling my only move advantage.

I’d say that your advantage is your knowledge.

We don't play an opening because some tells it to play.
We play an opening because we like it!
So I can't recommend u playing London system. Some would play well with it, others badly.
U don't know what u like? Well, just watch GM games (in top tournaments for example) to get an opinion (which will be more productive than asking here).
However, if u are lazy working something or don't have so much time (I think this because u play 1.b4 but maybe I am mistaken), then Jobava system is an idea.
U could try to play what u like as black with white but it really depends on what u play as black...

I'm not lazy I know theory quite well not just in Sokolsky but other openings as well.
I'm playing slav defence or sometimes semi - slav , but prefer slav more solid approach, that's against d4 .
Against e4 I'm also sorted, playing scandi with Qd8 solid.
The reason I chose b4 not because I'm lazy it's because titled players like yourself don't study it and in blitz I can catch them off guard , even GM's can get lost(at least loose time advantage in the opening in blitz) In some lines there.
Now imagen I'm playing you or other title players e4 opening do you really think I can REALLY surprise you? Well I don't think so most of it they already know or have a better feel for the pawns structures etc.. sure I can learn some rare line to surprise them like e4 e5 etc... but what if they play sicilian? What if they play caro ? What if french? You see where I'm going I can't control the game even tho white I have to adobt basically to their move first and then control the game . With b4 I control the game no matter what their response is, because they don't study it .
But only problem I'm giving my move advantage with b4 and it kind of like c4 more relaxed and not forced. So that's why I'm thinking maybe I should learn something else like Jobava or Veresov attack or London where I can surprise them and control from the start.
Same reason I'm playing Scandi because like b4 I can outplay even GM's in first 15 moves of theory and gain time advantage after that they might outplay me but at least I have time advantage, much better than if I play sicilian where even begginers know 20 moves of theory.
Anyway I'm ok with my black reporter, I'm just wondering if solid London approach would be better overall opening or just stick with b4, I know london doesn't give white first move advantage as well plus it's well known opening so strong players might know it better then argutan.
I'm talking about online or OTB blitz play only , sometimes rapid games.
I'm talking about white's opening reporter here.
I've been playing Sokolsky opening for so long and it's been good to me, usually strong blitz players and even titled players don't know much about this opening, where I know more theory, more familiar with pawn structures, know some tricks etc and much faster in the opening of course.
So my question is do you think I should go all in London System! ? And stop playing Sokolsky opening and start studying London and constantly play it ? Do you think it will give me an edge I'm my games ?
Props. : London will be more solid and better opening then Sokolsky, where I don't loose one tempo as white like Orangutan.
Cons. : if I play stronger opposition it will be hard to surprise someone with london , they've seen it plenty compare to Sokolsky where I can gain time in the opening and use some theory tricks.
So what do you think?
