Studying Chess Openings and Ideas

How much time should I invest daily on a book if I want to learn an opening? Or should I prefer Chesscom's book explorer over the book to learn and memorize opening lines?

Depends on the book, and you do NOT want to memorize. You want to UNDERSTAND the opening you are studying. I spend about 20 percent of the time studying openings. Otherwise, I spend the rest of the time studying books on strategy, endgames, and game collections (i.e. Korchnoi, Short, Bhat, or some tournament).
