#1, maybe 3...,d6 instead of 3...,Nf6 transposing into a Phillidor defense. Followed by Be7, Nf6, and 0-0 however appropriate to do so. White does have interposing moves like d4.

hey this was a great teaching post--- all the games posted gave a real uptick in how to look at this problem which I have quite regularly and for once I understood what was being accomplished

This is a line which is practically tough to play as Black, but he is not lost- by a long shot.
