The Benoni/Dutch Hybrid

Hello Chess Fans,

I was looking for a queen pawn defense, and came across a move I cannot find anywhere. It is a cross between the Benoni and the Dutch

Thanks for looking at my Benoni/Dutch Hybrid,

It doesn't look much like the Dutch...  one similar move doesn't make it a similar opening.

Although it doesn't look like a dutch, the f-pawn does a task that is common in the dutch, it takes control of the e-4 square.

Aaah that hole on e6, how it screams..

On a more serious note, I think this is a dubious idea - you should bring your pieces out before making such bold pawn moves. I wonder whether 6. e4 already gives white a clear edge.

Thanks Dan,

That move makes more sense that it is f5 is made earlier in the game, so Black cannot alter the moves, but I am going to comment that the other two quotes that I believe that after 6...fxe4 7.Nxe4, the line is okay. I am still working out what to do after this.

Quoting Alphasta18, I would love if White put a knight on e6. I would quickly trade it for the bishop and there is no way you could retain the pawn.

I play the Grob's Attack,

And f5 is used to take over the center, Black now can't play e4 without trading the e-pawn for the f-pawn,

I once saw an attempt of a Benko Gambit/Dutch hybrid in an article of one of the main article writers around here, and in the given case it was an attempt to strengthen the control of the centre. As for the "troubling" Bg5, it can be a part of an Anti-Dutch system, mainly the one that also features Nc3 without c4, when it's handled relatively easily eventually, or at least theory says that with best play from both sides, the most White can achieve is equality.

P.S. Happy New Year!

Yeah,

I agree with all of the comments (for once)

I like the move order 1.d4 c5 2.d5 f5!?

Makes a lot more sense.
