Good morrow to thee...I have been playing the sveshnikov for around 2 or 3 months now with reasonable results...the main reason i have had good results imo is because some people dont really know it...but against stronger players i struggle to compensate for the weak d5 square...any advice would be much appreciated ☺

You have to deal with it. Get over it. Black gets an equal share of central space. You want to trade on d5 and try to plug the hole with pawn to d5.

Might want to check out 4 games between Geller and Smyslov versus Sveshnikov in 1977 and 1978. I think the four demonstrate Sveshnikov's basic ideas for the opening pretty well.

My take is that Black gives up the obvious d5 and d file weakness for hopefully active counterplay. Counterplay mainly due to better mobility relative to other Sicilians. In some cases, literally giving up d for benefits in other areas.

true...you usually have the 2 bishops and the f5 break but from my experience white plants a knight on d5 an later starts pressuring my kingside and restricting me...will check out those games thanks☺
