The idea behind the Danish is open lines and fast development. In chess if you are behind in development it is not a good idea to open the position. That's exactly what black does here. The cool thing about this gambit is, if black tries to hold onto his two pawn advantage he's going to be met with decisive results. Black's themes in this opening are to give back the pawns but on his terms, not to try to hold on to them.

Hi all.
This is my first article so please give me some feedback.
I was looking over some youtube stuff the other day to get a better idea of the motives behind the kings gambit, and then I found something a little out of the way, almost hidden called the Danish Gambit. The ideas behind this opening are quite different, with white opting for quick development at the cost of 2 pawns. I am yet to try this idea in a proper game, though any opinions are greatly appreciated. Thankyou
