I haven't really played that much KIA, but I know that it is a resilient opening and it is easy to counterattack the center. My favortite variation to play against is where Black overextends his center and White gets great chances with an easy f4 break at the proper time. Anyone interested should join this group. It's awesome!
The Hypermodern 1. Nf3

I play the "Barcza" a lot, perhaps with e4 around move 3 or 4 as a variation... lately, I open with 1. Nf3 just about every game I play as white.

hey birdbrain I have just a question, why do you do all those groups? to get points or money or what? I'm only interested in brid opening as of now, and maybe the scandinavian against 1.e4

Groups are a great way to get at a particular aspect of the game that the forums may or may not. something as expansive as an opening is too big a topic for a thread so creating a group is establishing a meta-topic.
It's a great tool and works best when many use it.

You mean to tell me you are the only one that doesn't pay me to create these groups? NOOOOO! :-)
No, the real reason I create them is that I love openings. It is my favorite part of the game, more even than the middlegame, most other people's favorite part. I think playing appropriate moves in the opening sets the stage for the battle, and I don't like to just play the same old thing. I want something new and fresh.
I know that tons of people like different openings. These groups give them a "place" to come together and share their experiences about certain openings. They know where to come when they want to find someone else who wants to play a particular opening against them.
Plus the vote and team chess matches - it gives a whole new depth to the opening.
Plus, lower-rated players can kind of "tutor" underneath the posts of the stronger players in the group.
You may call it a love affair! By the way, I am not done with my groups ideas. I still plan on creating one for the Ruy Lopez, the Pirc/Philidor, the Queen's Gambit, and really anything that a group of people would legitimately want to be involved with. I don't want to create a group for weird openings like the Amar or the Creepy Crawly, but even the Grob or 1. b4 - there are people who play those and may be interested in their own group. I want to make one for the English. Besides that, at the moment, I cannot think of anything else, but eventually, the groups will be out there for people to enjoy.
Killabeez and I were talking about a group that might have the KIA involved, which is a great opening, but I didn't feel that it was popular enough to make a big impact by itself. So I came up with the concept of having a group that revolves around the hypermodern side of 1. Nf3.
What this means is we won't be talking about openings that involve immediate control of the center (openings with a quick d4 or e4) such as the Catalan, Queen's Gambit, Sicilian, etc.
We will be getting into openings such as the KIA, the Reti, the Queen's Fianchetto, Santasiere's Folly, and anything else you can think of that might be a great idea to look into.
Here is the link for the group.
