The IKEA OPENING!
Why do people keep downvoting??? It's designed to be stupid!
Its because you didn't specify that. People on the internet are extremely sensitive to anything that seems illogical, especially if that revolves around something they like, in this case an illogical opening revolving around Chess. Not that specifying its a joke will necessarily stop these basement dwellers from hating, but I've noticed its less likely.
home depot is better than ikea
no, they both suck lmfao
but i call this trash, its not an opening
home depot is better than ikea
Agreed, but “Home Depot” is too many letters for a chess opening.
and the caro-kann defense isn't??

I've reported you for verbal abuse.
what-
Nevermind. This opening is stupid and I apologize for anyone I may have offended.
It's not stupid, it's a joke, and there is no reason to apologize for it. If anything, the people offended should be apologizing to you for their toxicity over what clearly isn't a serious opening.
Reminds me of this game with Magnus carlsen vs Hikaru,
this game teaches about how thinking for a long time correlates to saving time. obviously, before the game, magnus and hikaru predicted the future and realized the game would in a draw on the 97th move, 12 minutes into the game. they saved time by playing the double boncloud to draw, and for the memes they didnt agree to a draw first.
No, im joking
(note: this is a joke)
The IKEA opening sacrifices a "good position" in exchange for your opponent being confused and terrified, expecting a trick (and of course memes, play the IKEA opening for the memes).
It starts with 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bc4, this is the Italian game, giving us the "I" in IKEA.
White then plays... 4.Ke2, sacrificing castling rights and exposing their King! This gives us both the "K" (4.Ke2) and the "E" (4.Ke2) in IKEA!
Black plays 4...Nxe4, winning material.
Then white plays 5.a4, giving us the "A" in IKEA and completing the IKEA OPENING!
Here's all the IKEA opening moves:
