Most sound would depend on who you talk to. I suspect most would regard 1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bb5 as being best for both sides. Hans Berliner would say 1. d4 and white has won.

Most sound is different than the one that works the best for you. Many openings cannot be proven to be unsound.
My preferences to the most sound opening is 1. d4 Nf6 2. c4 e6 3. Nf3 b6.
