gambiteer, I'm not entirely sure where this is going, but I'd like to give Nf4 a shot.
I'm not convinced 9.c3 or 10.d4 are the best moves for white.
joey, that gives back the gambit pawn, although I'll agree black looks better, this was just a creative try, I think the mainline Parham might be better.
True, the Parham Gambit was just a thought, it can cause problems for black if he tries to hold on for the pawn, although I agree black is better in your board.
See, the thing is I'm reasonable, I can agree that after move 3 above, black is better.
here is a line by stockfish where white is crushed
This line shows how bad the Parham really is.
This is the Parham Gambit, we have already stated this isn't the best, and the engine didn't even accept the gambit. Are you sure white was played by the engine? It hung a rook pretty quickly. CHCL, you are one of the biggest trolls on here, I have repeatedly seen you insult this opening, and not once give a line against it.
both colors were played by engine. no blunders, all best play
Idk, some moves look questionable, it seems that white set himself up for the skewer.
white prefered losing the exchange and a rock instead of the queen or the game
Incredible how much attention this line has gotten here on chess.com!It's just a line which mixes things up a little and produces a game with equalish chances for both sides. It's not fantastic but not horrible either.
This line is quite interesting though, if you haven't discussed it already:
PxP, PxP, Qh5+!
Interesting line indeed- I guess ony a dumb guy will go 5.ef5? when Black is much better after 5...Nd4.
5.Ne2 must be played, when Black is rather fine after 5...Nf6, but this line is "inferior" as it does not seem to grant Black something more than equality.
Ok...I think I see it now...
Quite right, although 6.Qg3 does not deserve a question mark (put it on the previous move), and 6...Qf6 (which is the move I saw) looks great, as well. I don't know which of the two is better, both look very appetizing.
Thanks IM pfren. I didn't think of 6...Qf6, although I think that is very strong too.
I've fed this to mr.Houdini, and he thinks that your Qe7 is a bit better than my Qf6- but it gives a rather significant advantage to Black after both these moves. So- congratulations! you have a better eye than me.
