tournment

If this will be your first tournament, don't worry about your openings.
I don't know your ratings, if you are "beginner" develop you pieces to the correct position wNc3/f3//bNc6/d7/f6, wBe2/g5//bBe7/g4/d7/b7. Don't try anything "big", because usually "club-players" make deviation from theory quite early. If you know opening theory well ofcourse you can play according of it.
Main point is get experience and enjoy the athmosphere....

I hate the sicillian with a passion. I hate playing against it and with it
Same here!
Just focus on not getting nervous.. and not losing focus..
in my tournament i was pretty nervous because it was my first time and it got the best of me!
Also dont expect to have a great score because its your first tournament and your probably not ready for OTB games (games that count, not normal games against your friends where it doesnt matter if you lose)

Eat a good breakfast, bring beverages (keep yourself hydrated!), snacks, and a pen (even if it's a rapid tourney where you're not expected to keep score, you never know whether you'll need to fill in a form or mark a wall chart).
Try to relax, breathe. Don't worry about losing too much-everyone does.
I'm going to my first tournment next saturday and wanted to get some tips on what to expect. Here's my repitore when I play e4 and black plays e5 i'm leaning on king's gambit, evans gambit, danish gambit, or the center game. When black plays c5 against e4 I'm playing smith morra gambit. If black plays d5 against e4 I'm going to transpose the game into the blackmar diemer gambit with d4.Against the french i'm playing the exchange. When playing as black against e4 I either play the french or the alkinekine defense. Against d4 I play the benko gambit or the modern benoni. I really havent faced c4 so I guess I would play the nimzo english against it. Any other openings my oppenent throws at me I will just play d5 as black and d4 as white. Last, thing when playing white I play the Queen's gambit or the blackmar diemer gambit. Any tips for me guys.
P.S. if you want to help me prepare for the tournment you can challenge me to some unrated games but only 1 move per day because time isn't on my side right now. Thanks in advance
