It is funny that I gave the challenge and Slougher after all his talking will not accept and defend his words.

Sloughter I am not going to contaminate the forum like you did at chesspub with all the forum games.  I have sent you a game challenge in correspondance as this is a better format.  In addition, the community can analyse the game afterwards when we post the game.  If you want to help with the opening, use this format as you make a mess with all the lines and takebacks to the point where you cannot make clear evaluations with forum games.

Now accept my correspondance challenge and then we can get to work the opening.

Nick

Sloughterchess,

I have been playing a long time, over a decade now, but I've never studied at all or read posts like this one.  Therefore I don't have much productive to say, but I found this post helpful, thanks.

Sloughterchess, I challenged you, see it as the same way of playing the moves in the forum if you want, but imagine if conquisquador and me play a 35 moves game against you in the forum: 35x4=140 posts just to display the moves, that's too confusing and boring for everyone. And if we do more games... So let's play the moves in the server, and the discussion of the games here. This is my last word if you refuse. See you.

Fair enough; as you can see I have accepted your challenge. My last move was 10.Be2

Yes sir. Right away, Sir.  Unless I am misreading the online game, my last move was 8.Qf3

Why didn't you want to play this as a rated game? According to the online game we are playing it is an unrated game.

I did not put rated game becuse for you this is not a pure game (but a sort of analytical game) as I understood. But if you insist, for the next 4 games I may put rated.

It just came as a surprise that a player who was 100% convinced of winning wouldn't want the game rated.

Your comment is a pity firstly because I don't care of the rating here, it's not the place where I play corr for real. Secondly if we had played our 2 games of chesspub in rated games I would have 2/2.  Thirdly, as I said just before, I did not put rated because of you, and you said "You miss the point of my challenge. The Two Knights' Gambit has been around for over 500 years. The point of this challenge is to build one brick at a time, not to see who wins or loses. The goal is the truth". But ok, if you insist I abort our first 9 moves and we do it in rated. The next 4 games will be rated.

As you wish; if you abort the first game, why does this do either of us any good? Since you think you are going to win and I hope I am going to win, neither of us benefits from aborting the game.

You have difficulties to understand simples things. We will play 5 games, but we began an unrated game. Then you began with your remark that sound like "hey it's not rated, are you afraid?" So at this point our game did not really began yet, we can abort to replay THE SAME GAME but IN RATED, to have 5 rated game instead of 4 rated and 1 unrated. Understood? So, about our first game: rated or not? If you want rated let's abort the 10 moves-game unrated and play the sames moves in a rated game.

Gee---I thought it was only in America that tact is extinct; it is nice to know that it is missing in the younger generation in Switzerland as well! If you wish to start the same game anew as a rated game that is fine. Good luck!

This is really bothering me. Quoting text is not difficult. In fact, the forum places your cursor in the correct position to quote by default. Your style of putting all text within the quote box makes your comments difficult to read. This has been pointed out to you more than once. Why are you so stubborn?

sloughterchess

I'm not familiar with protocol; when it says quote, I just assumed that I was supposed to respond where it says quote. It's not a question of being stubborn, it is just computer illiteracy. It took me many tries to learn how to insert diagrams--easy for the computer literate. Tough if you are old school.

The top of the gray box says "____ wrote:" That should be a good clue. Also the fact that everybody else on the forum quotes differently. That should also be a clue. Also the fact that your posts are very difficult to read compared to other posters. That, too, is a good clue.

Fish Monger:  It is fresh, sir!
Customer: But it looks and smells nasty and is rotting!
Fish Monger:  I assure you it is fresh, sir!
Customer: I don't know...looks 3 days old.
Fish Monger:  Nonsense!  No one would buy Fish that is 3 days old.
Customer:  Ok, I'll buy it.
Fish Monger:  Fresh Fish!

Take a chill pill guys. I'd say the thread has derailed slightly from the original intention of debating whether Qf3 is a superior move.

Arkhein won the first game of the five game series. The innovation 9.Nc3 appears to be a bust once White has nothing better than Nh3:
