What are the strategic goals in this gambit?

Avatar of GeorgeWyhv14

the pawn (advantage) is subjected to attack like in other gambit.

Ok. I like playing quiet so I maneuver until I have a tactic. Thanks @Indervelt

lol, when i read von hennig gambit, I thought you were reffering to the line,
1.d4 d5 2.c4 e6 3.Nc3 c5 4.cxd5 cxd4!?
This gambit is really rising nowadays even in top level as Super GM Grischuk is using it regularly to beat 2700+ players. His second GM Pavel Eljanov also did a great job reviving this great opening in his course in modern database.

Eljanov's is a good course, but it was authored in a hurry - e.g. after 5.Qa4+ Bd7 6.Qxd4 exd5 7.Qxd5 Nf6!? he even forgot giving any analysis on the greedy 8.Qxb7 (which is not a bad move- actually after some messy lines the chances should be about even)..

I just posted a game with this line yesterday! It's a lot of fun.

5.dxe6? is a horrible move after the very simple 5...Bxe6 and white already risks being busted.

90.3% against the Caro Kann.

Typical CK player - equalise, and swap off at all costs.

Be careful for what you wish for...

93.8% over 29 moves.

Not quite sure what my opponent was doing though - went on tilt early on after the LSB sac.
