Many Sicillian Players will know this variation, but what should I do against it as Black, here some games in the Yugoslav where white demolishet black:

Whats the Standart--setup of the accelerated Dragon

You should had played Knight G4 when you had the chance... to snap the dsb. If white doesnt play f3

The Yugoslav attack doesn't represent any particular danger. Just play normally. tongue.pngpeshka.png

Each one of the above lines is exhaustively analysed for another 15-20 moves.

Black is doing fine in all variations, but the existing theory is very dense, and one single mistake spells doom (for either side).

9...Bd7 is not the unique good move. Black can play 9...Nxd4, 9...Qa5 or even the Accelerated Chinese Dragon 9...Rb8. peshka.png

True. It is your comments which represent danger to common sense.

As I indicated above, there are, at least, 4 good black replies to 9. Bc4. So, the "common sense" tells me that this Yugoslav attack move 9. Bc4 is neither sharp nor acute. blitz.png However, I can easily agree that it becomes sharper later with pawn storms on both flanks. happy.png

N.B. I spoke about the Yugoslav attack with 9. Bc4.

VERY GOOD

9. O-O-O is better move.

I don't know, 9...d5 seems to be a strong reply to this Rauser variation.

and black seems okay. explorer.png

Black has a strong pawn structure, but it is hard to defend d5 after a minor piece exchange in the center. However, d4 for black afterwards is compromising. In the above position, without the isolated pawns on c6 and e5 I'll say that the black is in great shape. After all, isn't that the "Ideal" Sicilian position? The pawns in the kingside have not yet begun to roll.

The pin is still nasty, since 14...Qa5? can be easily be met with 15. Nxd5! followed by 16. Ne7+

I'll take that back Bc4 is hanging, and the drawbacks of the Yugoslav start to appear.

Frostmaple

Say, the bishop is better on e2, isn't it?

What about 14.f4?!

U are right, white has an advantage cuz of this annoying pin on d5. pin.png

Nope, this is a bad idea. SF9+ suggests 14. Kb1. Other relatively good options: 14. Ne4, 14. Bb3 and 14. h4.  explorer.png

Hi, pfren and all, I am wondering why Nxd5 is standard.
For example:

among other variations maybe offers chances.

Interesting game and analysis. Pavlidis is a very strong player, and this game certainly confirms that it is much easier to play White in this line (and most probably all these Yugoslav lines.)

22.g3 is critical and possibly the only move.
Thanks for the response!

sicilian dragon is refuted by Yugoslav attack, fact.

No top GM plays dragon

And who said sac, sac, mate?
