Wat to do against Yugoslav Attack

Hmm maybe white should avoid whole 9.0-0-0 line?

Black is rather comfortable in the Dragon if white does not castle long. Of course both the Be2 and g3 lines are far from harmless, but not really pressing.

Hi, pfren and all, I am wondering why Nxd5 is standard.
For example:

among other variations maybe offers chances.

Black will get some compensation for the pawn, but supposedly he/she is not playing the Dragon to defend such annoying positions.

Interesting game and analysis. Pavlidis is a very strong player, and this game certainly confirms that it is much easier to play White in this line (and most probably all these Yugoslav lines.)

22.g3 is critical and possibly the only move.
Thanks for the response!

Most dragon players only play because of the name...

Is almost tragic the increasing desperate attempt to revive the beast, typified by the following...

accelerated dragon

hyperaccelerated dragon

delayed dragon

dragondorf

chinese dragon

accelerated chinese dragon

Probably some other dumb variable as well...

So what next? hyperaccelerated dancing chinese dragon... named after some patzer dancing in a nightclub?!

Bottom line... yugoslav attack is near fatal against this defence, because of weak pawn structure.

As RJF said... sac, sac, mate?!

Play the kan instead...
