Honestly depends on what your opponent plays. You can look at some defences on chess.com

Against e4 just e5 and develop. Against d4 the King’s indian defense. Against everything else develop. That’s how I play.

Honestly I recommend just opening principles. If they lose a pawn early then be cautious because it may be a gambit, but after 15 moves you can stop worrying about traps.
