there is still ALOT of d4 players in this forum.

could it be that d4 players are statistically more intelligent and social ? ha!

just a joke guys.

I wouldn't want to take a poke at a person IQ.  for reasons not explained that is the ultimate insult around HERE...

Ummm..... Yeah. It means we 1.d4 players are more intelligent. That's good insight you have.

But, seriously, 2 or 3 years ago I was a solid 1.e4 player; scared to death of playing 1.d4 (shying away from playing any gambit). Then I happened along this site and took an interest in playing an occasional online correspondance game. I have not played 1.e4 since.

With whites I move 1.e4

1...e5 gets 2.Bb5

1...c5 gets 2.c4

2.c4 also for 1...d6 or 1...g6

With blacks I try to play the Caro-Kann or the Dutch Stonewall.

As white, Reti. As black Sicilian Najdorf, King's Indian Defense, Benoni. I used to play Pirc, but I am afraid the Austrian Attack.

Grand Prix attack can be refuted by playing h5

I have mostly played this formation as white: d4,c4,g3. With black pieces Dutch, Grunfeld, Caro and 1...e5.

Cool !

MDL4

I play the two knights variation against the Caro-Kann and the French defense as well.

MDL4

I'm going to learn the Yugoslav attack and Levenfish attack as well against the Sicilian

MDL4

And In the future, like 2 years or 1 year after,I might play the Sicilian defense as well but not now as I play the Petrov's defense now and I might stick to it only

MDL4

I was learning the Ruy Lopez but I just stopped it and will stick to the Italian game

MDL4

And for d4 I mostly play d5 and the Slav but I'm also going to play Kings Indian Defense

https://www.chess.com/forum/view/chess-openings/what-are-your-chess-openings?quote_id=29529542&page=2#last_comment. Really?e4 is more famous than d4 in grandmasters and even in chess.com and everywhere.e4 is for aggression while d4 is for defensive play and play till the end when you try to win while for e4,we try to win in the opening and middle game

I like to play the Scotch and the Guicco Piano as white.

MDL4

Cool, before I used to play Giuoco Piano but now I play the Giuoco Pianissimo

MDL4

Wow gchess, you play a lot of gambits

gchess33

I value the initiative above pretty much everything else, which is why I play gambits in almost all my games (USCF OTB included).
