Anand played f3 against Carlsen and got a good game. He lost but that's another story...
I gave up 1d4 Nf6 2 c4 because of the Nimzo...and I'm not prepared to play the insipid Nf3 stuff. I wondered years ago why many players would start 1c4 and transpose into QGD type positions. Gradually I learnt why.
The Nimzo is to 1d4 what the Sicilian is to 1e4. After 1d4 Nf6 2c4 e6, anything other than 3Nc3 should be called the "Anti-Nimzo" .
i believe f3 variation is good even if we end up with double pawn :)
