What do I play against the Nimzo-Indian

  • #41

i believe f3 variation is good even if we end up with double pawn  :)

Anand played f3 against Carlsen and got a good game. He lost but that's another story...

I gave up 1d4 Nf6 2 c4 because of the Nimzo...and I'm not prepared to play the insipid Nf3 stuff. I wondered years ago why many players would start 1c4 and transpose into QGD type positions. Gradually I learnt why.

The Nimzo is to 1d4 what the Sicilian is to 1e4. After 1d4 Nf6 2c4 e6, anything other than 3Nc3 should be called the "Anti-Nimzo" .

Because your opponents know just how important the battle for the e4 square is.

Best way is to prevent going into nimzo!play Nf3 instead of c4
