What is better; Parham or Queenside Fried Liver

qf3 and then black is forced to do nf6 leaving that night open to be pinned.

1.e4 e5 2.Qh5 Nc6 3.Bc4 g6 4.Qf3 Nf6 5.Ne2 d6 6.Nc3 0-0 7.d3 Na5 is given by some authorities (e.g. Sakaev in a very brief note in his latest book) as slightly better for Black.

However, it seems that the ...Na5 plan could be played even earlier (5...Na5!) when after eliminating the bishop Black may play ...d5 at once, and playing like that Black also avoids little annoyances as an early Bg5 or Bd5.

Not sure if Black has a real advantage, but certainly only a fool would enjoy playing white here.

And this ...Na5 idea, at fifth or sixth move (after 5...Bg7), is even more powerful if white goes for 5.c3?! instead of 5.Ne2.

whatupyodog

Certainly you missaid that because white is obviously better, if only slightly. I believe you ment to say only a fool would enjoy playing black here.

The_Gavinator

I personally don't go for c3, usually a 5.Ne2

whatupyodog

Yes, but white would never go for c3, in fact white could do b4 after na5 and ne2 and then queenside castle and easily pressure blacks kingside.

The Parham is probably the greatest thing ever.

I agree!

So, how White can get an equal game after 5.Ne2 Na5?

The move making most sense is 6.d3 (after whatupyodog's 6.b4 Black has a difficult choice between 6...Bxb4, winning a pawn, and 6...Nxc4, winning a bishop) but after natural play like 6...Bg7 7.Nbc3 c6!? white has some problems to solve (8.Bxf7+? Kxf7 9.b4 d5! works like a boomerang).

The_Gavinator

Christiansoldier stop posting your lines. I can make the ruy lopez look like crap if I play bad moves for white.

My impression after seeing a few of your games is that this is the only thing you can do successfully.

Christiansoldier, that ...Bg4 sortie isn't particularly useful, at least not at this time. Aiming for an eventual ...d5, if possible after exchanging the Bc4 makes much more sense, positionally.

whatupyodog

sorry, i was under the impression you ment Nh5. After na5, bg5 pins the night and pwns the shit out of black, the bitch is in your house IM pfren (cooler way to say the ball is in your park).

whatupyodog

Or you could say the heroin is in your needle.

The_Gavinator

What does that prove? Kasporav Fischer and Carlsen combined can't beat houdini.

The_Gavinator

What does that do? Two engines against eachother don't do crap.

5...Na5 6.Bg5 is a tad illegal- your pawn is still on d2. Anyway, I will let you jump over that pawn, and take your bishop on c4.

If you mean 6.d3 Bg7 7.Bg5, then this is a great move which is threatening nothing, after any of the two most natural moves (7...0-0 and 7...h6). I'd rather play the latter, but it's a matter of taste.

One thing is for sure: Shit tastes like shit, even when dressed with cherry syrup. You don't seem eager to admit it, but that isn't my problem. Your Parham is a silly opening, which needs dexterity to keep equality for White. Unfortunately you seem being quite short of that thing, the only thing you know is blah-blah-blah, mostly nonsensical.

The_Gavinator

but it won't prove anything.

The_Gavinator

No, it's just pointless

whatupyodog

yes but afer nd5 the night on f6 is hung, there is nothing you can do to not go down a piece if you castled. Also, if you played h6, then Bh5 then you have to play g5 to not hang the night.

whatupyodog

The crack is in your pipe IM pfren. Christiansoldier shut up.

pfren

But you cannot put a knight on d5, unless you don't mind ...cxd5

whatupyodog

Black had never played c6, bitch back on your dick.
