Your only important task in the opening is to reach a middle-game position in which you feel comfortable and confident. Everything else is just personal taste, or even fashion. Chess players are as fashion-conscious as teenage girls. Even Grandmasters.

I won today playing the Indian Game Fantasy Variation.

Whatever THAT is. I use the opening knight move from the Indian as my counter move to the queen's pawn push. I dont technically play the Indin much so I never saw "Fantasy Variation" before.

For the 48,793rd time, there is no best opening. There are a finite number of sound openings. The best for each person differs based on what THEY can understand best give their thought process.

For me, that is 1.d4 with White (Tromp, Veresov, French, Caro, the latter two via transposition after 1.d4 d5 2.Nc3 and 2...e6 or 2...c6) and the French, Russian, and Mexican as Black. For someone else, it is different openings.
