What is the best way to punish this opening?

man, i just wanted to find something intersting to play. I just wanted to test people and see if it worth playing.

Shepi, if that's how you want to categorize it that's fine, but then as you said, that leaves black's lead in development moot, because since he has to make the pawn moves that white already played (in order for black to get his bishops out), white will probably "catch up" in development. I just call it development all the same -- after all, a bishop development could be considered a two step process -- first move a pawn, then develop it -- and of course moving a center pawn is the execution of phase one in this case Smile

Okay, i spent 30 minutes trying to figure out white's optimal setup....i am confused really, none of the lines really make sense lol, ill play the morra-gambit instead of this lol, had to ask for reference sake.

Elubas

lol, I'm surprised you considered 3 Qxd4, since you already seemed convinced it was inferior Smile

I am convinced that trying to get the advantage in the opening is a conspiracy and people have been lying to me all this time. I must look at all this junk.

Qxd4 only makes sense if Black's played ...d6, so ...Nc6 can be met by Bb5; see: http://www.chess.com/opening/eco/B53_Sicilian_Defense_Chekhover_Variation

Lots of games by GM Yandimerov: http://www.365chess.com/search_result.php?search=1&m=7&n=232&wid=9838

All those words, and a 13xx rated player (chess.com) came up with an excellent answer on the first page.

Carlsen only played Qxd4 after d6 had been played, so all those references to Carlsen had already been answered!

I'm only 1300-something because I've only played one game so far!

This is a playable line. White is not worse here. Hence, there is no real "punishment", only ideas how to treat this opening.

White does indeed seem to do very badly. Im my DB, scoring only 23% over 1081 games.

I'll need at least 15 minutes to do a write out a '10-move analysis of ALL white's plausible options.' In the meantime, can you show us your analysis?
