I think it's called the Bowlder attack. Its basic idea is "Huh. C5? Well I'm still going to attack f7 to try for checkmate." And indeed, 2...e6 makes it looks silly.

You can play 3...d5, or develop some more first and then play it later. Its an equal position.

By the sound of it, it seems you can make your friend pay for using this opening.
