Do you always play Englund like this? I saw you did in one of your games.

1.
d4
e5
2.
dxe5

d5

I sometimes play that order, and I sometimes play 1.d4 e5 2.dxe5 Nc6 3.Nf3 d5. which is more accurate since 1.d4 e5 2.dxe5 d5 3.e4! is good for white

Wow.

You don't play 1.d4 e5 2.dxe5 d6?

I've won games with the Barnes Defence and a 1200ish level (alt account) so it's not the worst

The elephant gambit or Englund gambit

I play both of these with success at the 2500 level and beyond

I play Englund at 1400 and have a winning percentage

Me too, after more than 20 years playing the Englund it is still my favourite. I even play often the Grob variant ( no, not for the famous trap ). This variant is clearly refuted but in practice most people only know the first 7 or 8 moves and then they have to think themselves.

The reason i don't play this way is because white has some annoying ways to keep the tension, like 1.d5 e5 2.dxe5 d6 3.Nf3 Nc6 and then either 4.Bf4 or 4.Bg5.

I much prefer playing with the pawn on d5.

Yeah, that is annoying when they do that.

When you say "no, not for the famous trap " what do you play for?
