Can some one tell me what opening position white is holding on the board please, I have used this in a few of my games to form a solid defence and leave my queen side pieces attacking and it has proven quite effective. Also are there any articles on here regarding this position?

Blacks moves are only for illustration purposes.

what do you set up from there? Being new, the only pieces I see being developed are the bish and knight, what am I missing?  I'm looking for more effective openings so ay help you can give would be great

I either play b3 or d3 then Kc3, depending on what my opponent is doing. As Long as my queen side knight is in play and my bishop has an open file I play the rest of pieces as the game dictates.

I play this opening quite often. It's a really effective way to build up a kingside attack. The next move my white should by d4 to start challenging for control of the center and to allow for the dark bish to be develloped.

it prooves as very efficiant opening, but just as long as other pieces get to develop and the opponent has no other attacking options on the casteled king. variations I've seen played are most memorable by Fisher in some games from late 60's. good luck

Bobby Fischer used the King's Indian Attack, he talks about it in a game in his "Sixty Greatest Games".

it's the barcza opening but often transposes to a kings indian attack with further d3 Nd2 e4 Re1
