Ikr! I don't think they understand English so they just say thank you to everything.

In the book Game Changer: AlphaZero's Groundbreaking Chess Strategies and the Promise of AI (by Matthew Sadler and Natasha Regan), it's explained that AlphaZero is not a single chess entity. It's more of an AI program, or algorithm, which is capable of having different versions of itself.
To put it in simple language: DeepMind "self-trained" AlphaZero many times, and have noticed that its opening preferences sometimes change, across different iterations.
Some iterations of it seem to prefer 1.e4. Others seem to prefer 1.c4. Or 1.nf3. (And so on, and so forth).
This suggests that there is no single "best opening" - at least not in AlphaZero's eyes. It finds many different ways up the mountain, depending on which version of itself you're asking.
