What openings do you recommend?

I am kind of a beginner (if you look at my chess rating, its 700). I have been on and off of chess for a couple years, and its that time again where I am getting back into it. I am looking for an opening play for both white and black. I also took the chess personality quiz and I got positional over attacking, aggressive over solid, intuitive over calculating, and emotional over calm. So what do you guys recommend 🙂. I don't really care about theory or difficulty or any of that.

Start with what essentially all of the best started with.

1. e4 e5 and 1. d4 d5, with both colors. From there, go Ruy Lopez/Italian and Closed Morphy/Giuoco Pianissimo and Queen's Gambit/Catalan and QGD/Slav.

As black defend 1 e4 e5 and 1 d4 d5, as white open 1 e4.

Don't sweat too much over the opening.

At our level - mine as well as yours - the only important goal in the opening is to reach an early middle game position in which you feel comfortable and confident.

Everything else is just habit, or even fashion. Chess grandmasters are as fashion-conscious as teenage girls.

Play against one of the available free chess programs at a setting of (1200-1400), test your knowledge of the openings you’re most comfortable with, and evaluate the results.

When you can play like that, then come back and hint that I might be trash.
