What to play against the Scandinavian Defense

I often play the Scandinavian - it can lead to very exciting and dangerous games.

I always win w/ f3

Whenever people play this, they play Bg4 in stead of Nf6. I tend to play d4, but don't know if that's good.

Qe5+ is a inaccuracy. Block it with any piece and you should be fine. Your bishop, queen, or knight can be fine to block with. You’ll be ahead of development if you’re playing against the Scandinavian.

Honestly, I wouldn't try to avoid the Scandinavian Defense. Your opponent really has to know what they're doing in order for them to make it work. After 3... Qe5+, the best move is definitely 4. Be2, and eventually you can play Nf3 to gain a tempo.

i am partial to the the early g3 variations. White plays solid and keeps his advantage but doesnt give black the clear d4 target.

Atleast playing e3 would sound nice, correct me if I’m wrong.

I play the line where I win a queen as white!

looking at qe5 i rolled my eyes but it turns out to be a favorite weapon of Grandmaster Shimanov with incredible results ! draws agaisnt Niemann, Moussard and Tabatabaei and even a win agaisnt Caruana with it! all in 2022
What a time to be alive in chess! even move 3 in the Scandinavian is contested grounds!

I just play the bots, but I did play a few live games, and found a game where Qe5+ was played against me. I just developed the Bishop and while Black wasted time winning a pawn and having to keep moving their Queen, I just got on with things and it went pretty well.

I have read this thread.

Most people recommend Bishop Block or Queen Block.

1 person mentioned playing 2.f3 which was interesting and unusual.

No one has mentioned the move I play.

Unless, I have over looked it?

What about Knight Block?

No love for Knight Block?

You want to be able to play Nf3 to tickle the queen.

After all that gains a tempo.

Thats why nobody wants to play Nge2.
