Hello, I'm a beginner at chess and I often don't know how to play the openings so I decided to learn some, but sometimes, my opponent plays a completely random move that I wasn't prepared to, and I dont know what to play against. For example:
Here, I'm trying to play the Italian but my enemy plays Qe7, which I'm not prepared to and which isn't an optimal move (according to the computer). So should I keep developing or what should I do? Is there any opening rule I should know against these moves?
Well, recognizing and reacting to apparently random moves is something you need to learn.
I don't even play the Italian game but I can see the Queen's threat to e4 and to fork the bishop with a check to b4. So you'd have to worry that a normal move like d4 could be severely punished.
I would probably just continue with Nc3, planning Nd5 hitting the queen, if it is allowed.
