What's the point of the Scandinavian defense?

Btw in many Scandis you get these ugly Queens of the board quickly.

@PurtinGravy K, I can see your point. At my modest level it's a fine opening.

That type of attitude can make playing the Scandi a pleasant experience,  especially when it works.

Hey, you are talking to a 1...g6 player.

Yare yare!  every 1.g6 system can be entered by a better move order

Not with the same amount of lazyness.

LOL Okay,   I guess I didn't look at it that way.

I'm not proud of it, but l have to be real. Note that I realize that 1...g6 is no good for a lazy low rated player, because pawn structures, but I'm learning.

I think chess is a game for everybody.

Yeah, unexpected beauty to be found everywhere. Now I'm curious: what openings would you recommend for a lazy player with a strong preference for the endgame, having a KIA/modern history?

I would recommend to a lazy player to become a hard working super tryhard player or find a different hobby.   But that's just how I think people should live their lives,  in everything that they do.

Aha, so it's not a a game for everybody, as you said before?

Ok, serious now. I'm not lazy, I don't care about learning opening theory. I have only a certain amount of time to spend on chess, and I'm sure it's better spent elsewhere. Still interested in your opinion.

My opinion is just that,   You'd be better served not cutting corners.  everything else is "wrong".

K. To the OP, sorry for going OT, just thought it might be interesting.

The Center Counter kicks in early (move #2) so it tends to keep you inside its theory.

Ponz111 used this system to win the USCF Correspondence Championship years ago, with an amazing record that (to date) has not been matched.

Perhaps there is a lesson here this thread has missed?
