Which is the most annoying variation in the Caro Kann Defense
@1
White has various ways. Most trendy is the Advanced Variation 3 e5. The classical 3 Nc3 and 3 Nd2 are still good. Panov-Botvinnik 3 exd5 cxd5 4 c4 is sharp. The Exchange Variation 3 exd5 cxd5 4 Bd3 is not harmless. The Fantasy Variation 3 f3 is not bad either.
Another that post 3 left out that is very trendy is the Two Knights
1.e4 c6 2.Nf3 d5 3.Nc3
This is actually stronger for White against the Caro-Kann than it is against the French.

The question was after 1 e4 c6 2 d4 d5.
On move 2 also 2 d3 is good, e.g. played by Tal against Botvinnik.
Also 2 c4 is good, e.g. played by Karpov.

Well, I went based on the title rather than "Post 1"
When your title and post don't match, replies are unpredictable!
Nc3 Nf3 followed by piece development is the easiest line to play for white (and it is pretty good) e5 is objectify just as good, but breaks many chess concepts and is a bad choice for lower rated players.
indeed. Heh. As a long time CK player, I'm glad everyone posting (so far) hasn't said anything remotely close ta what variation or line that would be the MOST annoying 🤗 (for ME!)
