Which variation (6th move) do you play against Najdorf AND WHY?

English Attack?

Fischer-Sozin?

Classical?

Old Mainline?

Other/Something else?

I play the old mainline Bg5 because it is very aggressive. The whole point of playing the Open Sicilian is to be very aggressive as you develop, as otherwise you will likely end up in a very even middlegame because you have no progress in the center and your pieces aren't doing anything active. For this reason, other lines seem a bit inferior. Of course, in order to play the Bg5 line, you have to be able to keep up the initiative. If you can't do that, you shouldn't play it. In fact, you should probably just play the Closed Sicilian.

Najdorf is my favorite opening and I play different moves every time.

When I used to allow it, I played 6.Bg5.

However, more because of the Dragon than anything else, I no longer allow it.  Only way you are getting an Open Sicilian against me is via 2...Nc6, which doesn't allow for the Najdorf.  You can get a Sveshnikov, Kalashnikov, Accelerated Dragon, Ga-Pa Sicilian, or Taimanov, but not the Najdorf or regular Dragon.

Against 2...d6 I play 3.d4 cxd4 4.Nxd4 Nf6 5.f3!, and I still get many opponents that play 5...a6, but that move is basically a useless waste of time after White plays 6.c4!  Instead, Black should either directly transpose to the Accelerated Dragon, or else either play A) 5...e5 and use active piece play to counter the d5-hole, and White will play 6.Nb3, so the ...a6 move is meaningless, and White's other option is 6.Bb5+, which is good for Black if he knows the theory, or B) 5...e6 and play a hedgehog structure, similar to what you get in the Kan or Taimanov when White plays an early c4.

Against 2...e6 I play 3.d3

When ever I play against male chess players I am very heartless.

I show no mercy!

I play lines which are positional.

I grind my opponents down into a helpless position.

So that they know in there heart they never had a chance against me.

So against these male chess players I play.

6.g3 which is called the Zagreb (Fianchetto) Variation.

However, when I play against female chess players I can not help, but to have a heart.

I play moves which are inferior to give them a chance.

I play lines which are amusing.

I seduce my opponents down into a dominating position.

So that they know in there heart they never had a chance to be anything other than a dominatrix against me.

So against these female chess players I play.

6.Rg1 which is called the Freak Attack.

After the game if they ask me what variation I played I tell them the Freak Attack which is what the line is called.

Than I say things got freaky and I do a little wink Wink.

Yeah I wrote an article on it.

Well any way hopefully that helps.

If you want to discuss about Dragon, then post your own dragon forum. Not here. Please.

I just play Be3, f3, Qd2, 0-0-0 and chuck the g and h pawns at my opponent. Why? I know it won't be good against experienced players (though I played it against an IM and got an ok position out of the opening), but it's a really easy plan to remember that works against most sicilians, and I'm a bit lazy at times

man,i dont think it is so good wasting such time on openings learning the complex english attack against the najdorf.Just play simple Be2,Be3,00,Kh1,f4 setups. You can play really creative chess in that setup(just watch the magic happening when you get the key e5 break in)

Like Nithinbabu I play 6.Be2 The bishop controls a lot of squares from this location and it's not out there where it can be attacked. Also there's not much theory and it's easy to learn and play.

The only real choice for White on the 6th move against the Najdorf Sicilian is to resign
