White opening suggestions!

I'll be playing a +1800 USCF rated player in an OTB tourny tonight, and I'm pretty sure I'll be playing white. My game with the white peices has been kind of terrible as of late. I'm looking for a more off beat attacking line for white. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

For me, I could not expect to suddenly switch to a new white system without study and do well, unless I was very, very lucky.

Yeah, that's the danger right? But I'm so far out of my league in this tournament I have more success and better games playing off beat openings than just my usual repatoire. With a couple hours study I can get to a middle game tonight and just have some fun. It's always a great learning expereince playing out of my league if I can just get to the middle game.

Thanks

At least pick and opening and prepare a little. Look up some games for it if you have time.

nimzo-larsen attack indian or modern variation; or queens opening. kings one is too common.

you can always try hypermodern openings for an aggressive attack.

So I do play the Bird alot (f4) as my off beat opening, and that's just the way it went down. Fearful he'd play e5, I went ahead and played it and wound up in a super fun game. Blundered in the mid game and that was that. I <3 f4! Thanks for your suggestions, I'll be investigating them moving forward.

You said the tournament was tonight? If you said in two or 3 weeks, our suggestions could help you. a week or so to learn all the main lines of the opening you want to use, and a week or 2 of practice on here, thats the only way your going to be able to do it against an 1800+ player. a few hours for something your not used to playing, you will get thrashed, no matter what you use. Chess is not a game of,"i will study a few hours to beat so and so".

Try The Polish(Sokolsk/Oran-utan), it's great for confusing your oponent!

For something aggressive try Queen's gambit, for something more held back try Guioco Piano.
