In the Netherlands we called the Bird a Dutch with reversed colors.
Bent Larsen the famous GM from Danmark played many Bird games with good results.
I like the Bird.
Greetings from Riverlandjack a real player from Holland.

Play Bird or Dutch.
What is the point of it?
It only opens up the king and blocks the dark squared bishop
So why do some people, and even some masters play it?
It controls a key center square, e5, from the start. The pawn and piece structures from the Bird's create an unbalanced position early. This fits with the style of tactical attacking players.

Na if black plays e4 imidially black gets often an atcking potition.
black gets a pawn down position.

I think trying to play reverse dutch is less good the playing the normal dutch since the black qeenspawn has not moved two squares so you can play d6 and e5 to get an good game.
black usually pushes his d-pawn forward. But if white plays e4, then black is just worse.
I crush people with the Bird.Like Lasker against Bauer in Amsterdam 1889.
Everybody must known this classic game. The birth of the double bishop sacrifice.
I like the Bird. I like Lasker. I like that kind of sacrifices.

i crush the people with Froms Gambit.
I always get good positions, but blunder them away (as white)
I doubt anyone takes up the birds opening very seriously, probably more of a "try a new opening" whim
