Double Round-Robin program

Sort:
ThomasJEvans

Hi,

I am looking for a program that pairs players for a round robin tournament.

I would like it to have the following features:

  • Shows who should play who in each round with each colour
  • Shows a cross table like this one
  • Easy to use
  • Free
  • And preferably not requiring installation

If anyone has a spreadsheet that does this, and they would like to share it then please do; a spreadsheet would also work fine.

Thanks, ThomasJEvans

This may or may not help.  If not, it didn't take long to whip it together.  Here are double-round robin pairings for a tourney with 4, 6, and 8 players:

(In each pairing, the first number is White.)

Double Round Robin Pairings - 4 players
   Round 1: 1 vs 2 and 3 vs 4
   Round 2: 1 vs 3 and 2 vs 4
   Round 3: 1 vs 4 and 2 vs 3
   Round 4: 2 vs 1 and 4 vs 3
   Round 5: 3 vs 1 and 4 vs 2
   Round 6: 4 vs 1 and 3 vs 2

Double Round Robin Pairings - 6 players
Round 01: 1 vs 2, 3 vs 4, 5 vs 6
Round 02: 1 vs 4, 2 vs 5, 3 vs 6
Round 03: 1 vs 5, 2 vs 3, 4 vs 6
Round 04: 1 vs 3, 2 vs 6, 4 vs 5
Round 05: 6 vs 1, 4 vs 2, 5 vs 3
Round 06: 2 vs 1, 4 vs 3, 6 vs 5
Round 07: 4 vs 1, 5 vs 2, 6 vs 3
Round 08: 5 vs 1, 3 vs 2, 6 vs 4
Round 09: 3 vs 1, 6 vs 2, 5 vs 4
Round 10: 6 vs 1, 4 vs 2, 5 vs 3

Double Round Robin Pairings - 8 players
Round 01: 1 vs 2, 3 vs 4, 5 vs 6, 7 vs 8
Round 02: 1 vs 3, 2 vs 4, 5 vs 8, 6 vs 7
Round 03: 1 vs 4, 2 vs 8, 3 vs 6, 5 vs 7
Round 04: 1 vs 8, 2 vs 7, 3 vs 5, 4 vs 6
Round 05: 1 vs 5, 2 vs 6, 3 vs 8, 4 vs 7
Round 06: 1 vs 6, 2 vs 5, 3 vs 7, 4 vs 8
Round 07: 7 vs 1, 3 vs 2, 5 vs 4, 8 vs 6
Round 08: 2 vs 1, 4 vs 3, 6 vs 5, 7 vs 7
Round 09: 3 vs 1, 4 vs 2, 8 vs 5, 7 vs 6
Round 10: 4 vs 1, 8 vs 2, 6 vs 3, 7 vs 5
Round 11: 8 vs 1, 7 vs 2, 5 vs 3, 6 vs 4
Round 12: 5 vs 1, 6 vs 2, 8 vs 3, 7 vs 4
Round 13: 6 vs 1, 5 vs 2, 7 vs 3, 8 vs 4
Round 14: 7 vs 1, 3 vs 2, 5 vs 4, 8 vs 6

Hi MrEdCollins,

Those are what are known as Berger tables; they are actually provided by FIDE here (scroll down to Annex 1 for them).

I am actually looking for a program or spreadsheet that can when the players' names are inputted, tells me who plays who in each round (with each colour), and then I can put in the result, and then shows me a cross table.

I have tried to create a spreadsheet that does this for me, but I am finding this very difficult. If it helps, I can upload the spreadsheet that I have so far if anyone can help complete it; if anyone does waht to have a go at doing that, then post here or message me and I will get the spreadsheet through to you somehow (probably through Google Drive).

Of course, a program that does this all for me will do just fine.

Thanks for any help in advance.

MrEdCollins

I work with Excel spreadsheets every day.  If you send me what you've got so far, I can probably finish it / fix it.  I probably won't be able to start it until tonight, however.

I don't have a problem listing my e-mail address here, in a public forum.  It's edwardcollins@yahoo.com

Ok; thanks. I'll get the spreadsheet to you in a few minutes.

Received.  Thanks.
